Today I was at Colleyville Elementary with Mrs. Rovner's 2nd grade class! They were also working on the financial literacy unit so I was able to reuse my grocery store simulation with them. I was really excited to see how these students' creativity compared to Cannon Elementary. I was overcoming a cold during this time, but don't worry, I wasn't contagious so no spreading germs today!
After doing my little warm-up on the board, they split into their table groups to do the simulation. They were very excited to do this activity and had a lot of energy so early in the morning. As I was walking around, I was hearing tons of good stuff. Things like, "No, I think we should use the more expensive cupcake because it will taste better." They were so cute with their reasoning to use the more expensive option compared to the chaper one. They were also doing so well with their subtraction which I was very impressed by! They were able to get through all the different recipes. At the end I had them share out their reasoning for the ingredients they used. I was very impressed as was Mrs. Rovner.
I love getting to go back to see these students and build a good relationship with them. They are growing with each lesson I teach. I diffidently had sick brain because I totally forgot to get some photos but I will next time. Thursday I am at Glenhope Elementary for the first time with Mrs. Jones' 4th grade class. I can't wait to meet these new students! :)
