Alrighty, today is the day. Glenhope Elementary here I come! Today I was with Mrs. Jones' 4th grade class. With my electrolytes in hand (still overcoming this dang cold) I was excited to meet them! They were also working on their comparing fractions unit, so I was able to use my pizza fraction lesson.
They were so kind and respectful while I was going over some stuff on the board. I was actually really sweet because one of them saw my electrolytes and ask why my water was pink. But nonetheless they were very attentive and excited to make thier pizza. They were able to work in groups to make thier pizzas which was actually a really fun spin to this lesson. As I was walking around, they were talking about thier favorite pizza and one student was praying that they wouldn't get olives on their pizza. It actually work and she didn't have them. I had a fun time getting to see the difference in these students with Mrs. Ray's class and the difference in creativity.Â
Once they were all done with their pizzas I had them do a little show and tell like my other class to show their classmates their fun pizza and explain why they got it. I got to hear one student say, "Well I got sausage because 3/4 is greater than 1/2." I was so proud of them for using their math language! I clearly still have sick brain because, yet again. I forgot to get photos.
That rounds out my lessons for this week! Next week I will be back at Silver Lake Elementary with Mrs. Vietti's 2nd grade class then to Cannon Elementary to teach Ms. Lyman's 4th grade class for the first time and back to Mrs. Donaldson's 3rd grade class. I love getting to meet these new students! :)
