Today I was at Cannon Elementary School with Ms. Moore's 2nd grade class. They were also on their 2d vs. 3d shape unit, so I was able to use the same lesson that I used on Tuesday with Mrs. Simmons' students. This lesson was also special because the principal of Cannon Elementary stopped by and there was a photographer from the district taking photos of my lesson. Let's just say I was a little nervous. I started with Polypad again and they absolutley loved it. When I had them close their eyes and guess the shape, I then gave out little animal stickers this time for the students that guessed the shape right. This was when I learned how much kids love stickers.Â
We moved on to the other half of the lesson where they got to make their own 3d shapes. I walked around with my 3d shapes this time after I introduced them to the students. With this class, the cylinder shape was very popular, everyone wanted a cylinder. Just like Tuesday's class, it was so cool to see how creative these students were and how they compared the Tuesday's students. Some had similar patterns to Mrs. Simmons' class and some were completeley different! I was just so sweet to see my lessons make students smile. I even heard one of the students say, "I'm gonna put a bunch of triangles on my shape because there are two triangles at the and its a twiangular pwism." I was just the cutest! My next lesson will be at Colleyville Elementary. I can't wait to do this lesson with the kiddos over there. :)
